VELOGUIDE FAQS

What is VeloGuide?

VeloGuide is an on-demand ‘ride and guide’ sharing application for cyclists.

Traveling cyclists can use VeloGuide to find bikes and guides when they’re on the road. Cyclists can also use the app to earn extra money at home working as guides. They can post a profile, their favorite cycling routes and the bikes they own, and make money renting out their time and spare bikes. In addition, some guides will be able to access established inventories of bikes at local bike shops.

VeloGuide makes it easy to do what you love while you’re away from home without all the hassles of traveling with your bike or spending hours searching for safe cycling routes and well-maintained bike rentals.

Why should I book with VeloGuide?

VeloGuide is a simple and enjoyable way to book high-quality bikes and experienced local guides when you’re traveling. All of our guides have access to great bikes with above average components, and they’re intimately familiar with the best local routes. As you book tours, we will continue to update your information so we can better match you with future VeloGuides and bikes.

What do I need to bring on a ride?

We recommend that you bring your own shoes, pedals and cycling attire. A helmet will be provided if you choose to leave yours at home. Your guide can also supply a water bottle and repair kit with your bike rental should you need.

How does the booking procedure work?

After you sign up and create a profile on VeloGuide.com, you’ll be able to browse through all our destinations, guides and tours. After you select a tour and enter your information, your guide will contact you to arrange a meet-up location and chat about your expectations for your ride. It’s that easy!

We are constantly adding new tours in great locations. If you don’t see any guides or tours where you’ll be traveling, contact us and give us a chance to arrange a local guide. Our customer service team is very resourceful!

Where do I meet my guide? How do I contact my guide?

You and your guide will set the meeting place through the messaging feature on our website or app, although most tours will leave from a nearby bike shop or cafe. The VeloGuide will help you get set up before leaving on the tour, making sure you have the correct bike, attaching your pedals and supplying you with a helmet, water bottle and repair kit if needed. Some VeloGuides will provide a snack or beverage before or after the ride. If you have any questions before the ride, our online chat feature will connect you with our customer service team. You can instant message your VeloGuide through our app or on the website if you have any questions leading up to the tour.

How much does it cost?

All tour rates are set by the individual VeloGuide, and will vary depending on the guide and the market. The cost will include any extras the guide has chosen to add (food, drink, transportation, etc.). Most tours do not include a bike, although should you require one, there are many rental options from local Bike Shops available on our platform. We have many contacts at bike shops and clubs if you'd like our customer service team to help out as well, just let us know! There are no extra charges. Your credit card will be charged the agreed upon rate and you will see www.veloguide.com on your statement.

Is a tip recommended?

If you have a positive experience on your tour, we encourage you to thank your VeloGuide for his or her service, care and professionalism by tipping. Gratuities are not included in your tour price.

Whom should I contact if my booking doesn’t go as planned?

If your VeloGuide experience falls short of your expectations, please contact us at [email protected]. We will always strive to make things right.

Do VeloGuides provide insurance? Do I need extra coverage?

We encourage all guests to ensure they have medical insurance coverage when traveling. You’ll be required to sign a waiver of liability before departing on your tour. If a bike is included in your tour booking, or you've rented a bike through VeloGuide, you will be able to add Damage Protection for a small fee at checkout should you desire.

What Is VeloGuide’s cancellation policy?

What safety measures will be taken?

In a pre-ride safety talk, your VeloGuide will discuss important safety matters such as hand signals and local rules of the road. They will be knowledgeable of local Emergency Services phone numbers and have a charged cell phone in case of any incidents. Depending on your level of experience, your guide may also discuss safe road or off-road riding techniques. During any ride, be vigilant and pay attention to your surroundings. Most important, have fun and enjoy your ride!

What happens if the weather is bad?

While most tours will go ahead “rain or shine,” your VeloGuide has discretion to cancel a ride if weather conditions may create safety concerns or otherwise affect the planned route. In this case, we will make every attempt to find a suitable replacement tour, or you will receive a full refund. Please come prepared for all season weather conditions and bring enough clothing should the weather change during your ride.
