My name is Pepe and I live and ride in the Puerto Vallarta area. I love both mountain and road cycling and I can ride at all levels. I am a bike mechanic and work at Specialized in Puerto Vallarta. Mexico has amazing cycling and culture, with so many great places to stop and see along the rides. When I'm not fixing bikes, I would love to show you around! Let's go for a ride!
I found out about Bici Bucerias the night before i came to Puerto Vallarta. They hooked me up last minute with a trip from PV to the mountain village of Tuito with Pepe and a couple of other guests.
It was a fantastic trip. Pepe is a safe, skilled cyclist with great knowledge of the area in terms of food stops, routes, and vistas. He's also incredibly humble and kind. He can lead cyclists if all skill levels, and he has a gentle energy that I'm sure would help alleviate the intimidation factor that some novice cyclists can experience.
It was hands down my favorite experience in the PV area, and i would gladly ride with Pepe again!
I rode a private tour with Pepe from
boca to El Tuito and had one of the best days on a bike ever. Incredible scenery, great conversations, and some of the best food I’ve ever had. ¡Muchas gracias Pepe para una día increíble y para su paciencia con mi español!
Great time with Pepe and Bob on El Tuito, with tasty pan caliente and fish tacos!
This man is always happy and always lending a helping hand.
Pepe: Everyone loves Pepe! Very humble and considerate guy, he can do it all: from over-hauling your bike, to outriding some of the strongest riders. He knows all the routes with the best sceneries around Bucerias, while telling you stories about his Mexican heritage. A real treat, I feel privileged riding with him, every time I’m down visiting.
P.S. Ask Pepe about mountain biking: you will become instant friends. He might even treat you with a ride!
Thank you for setting up the bike. Super friendly and down to earth.
Always happy and helpful!
Great ride in a beautiful place. I didn't plan ahead, no clip ons packed and he was very accommodating with pedals and a helmet. Pepe is very nice, I enjoyed talking with him in as well. He picked a perfect ride for my moderate biking level. I wish I had more time for more rides this trip.
We are on a girls trip to Bucerias and rode with Pepe on Wed and Friday, what a pleasure, he was friendly, engaging and gave us two fun filled rides with plenty of insight into the area. Our post ride coffees were the bomb, I think we would all highly recommend Pepe as your velo guide!
Pepe showed us all the hidden gems around Bucerias. It was so much more than a bike tour. Loved the fish tacos!
I've ridden with Pepe many times. He always adjusts to the kind of ride I want to do that day. He is entertaining and very knowledgable but what I most appreciate about him is how safe I feel riding along with him. Safety is his priority. I highly recommend riding with Pepe when you visit the Puerto Vallarta/Bucerias/Sayulita area.
Pepe is the guy who will make you feel like he's your brother instantly and fun to ride with!
Pepe is the best guide you could ever ride with, he knows the roads and all the areas along the ride. He is a very professional and super nice person, when you ride with Pepe you feel like you are riding with your best friend. He talks to you and checks on you during the ride, takes you to key spots for snacks and water (coconut water as well). This is the second time my wife and I ride with Pepe and we are happy we did. We are planning on going back to the Puerto Vallarta/Bucerias area and ride with Pepe again. My wife and I highly recommend Pepe. The Veloguide service is easy and with excellent customer service. Lastly, Bucerias is a very nice place to visit, and ride bikes.
My favourite road ride is south of Puerto Vallarta to a town in the mountains called El Tuito. The ride starts along the coastal road and is beautiful. The ocean air and the views along the coast are amazing. It is very neat because you leave the jungle and reach a pine forest at the top of the climb.
I also like the ride from Bucerias to Fortuna de Vallejo. It is a quiet ride in the Mexican countryside, that is suitable for all levels.
When I am not working or guiding I like to participate in mountain bike races. I have won many races over the years in the masters category. I also work part-time as a spin instructor. If you are new to cycling I would be more than happy to give you some coaching on our ride.
