I moved out to Napa 9 years ago. I was just starting my career as a professional triathlete and was living in Chicago at the time. As you can imagine, the options for cycling in Chicago is limited, especially during the winter, which seemed to drag on for 6 months! My husband and I wanted to be able to be outdoors all year around so we moved. I got explore the entire valley by bike while training. I am retired from racing but I still ride my bike as frequently as I can. I help out with couple amazing events here in Napa; CampoVelo and Napa9. The Napa9 is my favorite--a leg busting 125 mile ride with 12k feet of climbing. We hit 9 of the best climbs in the valley! I was a swimmer in college--I swam at the University of Michigan where I was an NCAA Honorable Mention All American and qualified for the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Trials in the 100 Breaststroke. I coach a local masters group here in Napa along with being a triathlon coach for KIS Coaching. I am 42, married with two cats and no children.

The Ink Grade Loop, a 62 mile loop starting in Napa. You cruise up the valley, ride by Lake Hennessey and then after some rolling hills and a few easier climbs end up in the quiant (and less trafficked) Pope Valley. The Ink Grade climb is 4 miles and goes by Clif Family Farm--yes, that Clif, the one who makes the bars + wine too! After going through the mountaintop community of Angwin, you head back down to Silverado Trail and ride through the heart of the Napa Valley vineyards and wineries on your way back to Napa.
It's Napa Valley! Amazing roads for cycling + food and wine. I partake in the cycling part more than food and wine :) However, I know the good spots to hit for drinks and dinner!
