Meet Charlie

Arcugano Loc. Perarolo , Italian Republic

Besides riding my bike for over 30 years I have also worked in the bike industry for more than 23 yrs, from Campagnolo, GT Bicycles and Breaking Away Bicycle Tours. About a decade ago I  set up my own distribution company, Charlie Srl. I was born and raised in Italy, with a British father and an Austrian mother, before moving to Canada to go to Queens University. Prior to cycling, I was a successful sailor for the Canadian national sailing team, pocketing even a world championship title.

4 years ago I founded a bike tour company.  I am now using all my experience, knowledge, friends and contacts at Scatto to create  dream vacations. We organize THE perfect cycling holiday; we seek out stunning locations and unique routes, the best food and wine and assistance that only grand tour pro-riders normally receive, all of this while enjoying the comfort and service of a luxury getaway. Our trips are more than just a cycling tour, they are an adventure, a challenge and an immersion into Italian cycling culture. Our tours cannot be created on Strava or Tripadvisor, we study all the smallest details, find routes that only the well-informed locals know about and discover the best vineyards and places to eat. You will leave with memories that will last long after you have returned home.

My Favorite Ride

My favorite ride is our Venice to Rome Trip. I rode this trip as a Birthday present and one of my buddies gave me the push to start Scatto Bike Tours.

This is definitely an awesome trip, it gives you the chance to visit two of the most beautiful cities in the world and explore all in between. We travel though Veneto, cross the Apennines, visit Tuscany and the famous Chianti region to then finish in the eternal city of Rome.

More ABout Charlie

I live in Vicenza and the Veneto Region. We are surrounded by some of the best places to ride. Just south of Vicenza we have the Colli Berici (Berici Hills) and also just south of Padova we have the Colli Euganei (Euganei Hills). Both of the areas are full on vineyards and stunning Venetian Villas. Just a little further north we start getting into the Dolomites (which do not need much introduction) and also the famous Monte Grappa. Just a little to the west of Vicenza we have the famous town of Verona and also the stunning Lake Garda. We have MANY riding options!
