My name is Carlos and I love everything about bicycles. Many people think of Mexico as a crazy and unsafe place to ride, but many drivers in Mexico are very respectful of cyclists, and give us lots of room when passing. I love riding around my hometown of Mazatlan. Most of my cycling routes are on roads with very little traffic and are suitable for all levels of cyclists. I also run an annual cycling event called the Ciclotour Mazatlan ( https://www.ciclotourmazatlan.org/ ), which is an exciting group ride for all levels that cruises along the Pacific Coast of Mexico with exhilarating ocean views.
I look forward to riding with you soon and showing you around Mazatlan. Check out my video for more details!
I just completed my second trip to Mazatlán riding with Carlos. Last year I did his short introductory ride to Noria and longer ride to Isla Piedra. This year he took me climbing in the Siera Madra Occidental. From Concordia to Santa Lucia, we climbed over 5,000 feet in 25 miles. On the descended back to Concordia, we stopped in the quaint village of Copala. On the second day we again did the ride to Isla Pierda complete with the boat ride across the bay back to Mazatlán.
Carlos is well connected and a leader in the local bicycle community. He is a strong rider and always set the pace based on my ability. Both years he supplied a great rental bike and provided a safe authentic local riding experience.
My favourite rides would be La Noria or El Recodo. Lots of climbing, beautiful scenery, and quiet towns where we can have a little drink and snack before we return.
